2018 Spring, Summer WGC Events - Free and Fun
The Windsor Garden Club has scheduled a bunch of free, fun events for members and their friends through summer 2018. What's happening? Take a look:
Saturday, April 14 - Free workshop, "The Spring/Summer Food Garden," hosted by Sonoma County UC Master Gardeners. Windsor Town Green Community Garden, Windsor Road and Joe Rodota Way, Windsor, 10-12 a.m. Potluck following noon-2 p.m. Public is welcome. Bring your own chair and wear your garden shoes and a hat.
Sunday, April 22, Earth Day - "Birds n' Bees Plant Sale." One of the nonprofit club's two annual fundraisers. Members will be at the Windsor Earth Day and Wellness Festival selling butterfly and bee friendly plants, including veggie starts and beautiful color gardens. There's a Garden Bargain market full of thrifty garden decor as well. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, May 5 - "Some Like it Hot" plant sale at the Town Green Community Garden. The club is selling organic plants that take warmer weather to grow before they go in the ground: sauce tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, basil, eggplant, melons, sunflowers, milkweed, and zinnias. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sunday, May 13 - Mother's Day at the Windsor Farmers' Market. Come join the club offering free materials to make a living plant arrangement for mom. The club provides the materials free to children but also takes donations from dads and others for this fun event. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Windsor Town Green.
Tuesday, May 15 - Windsor Garden Club "Third Tuesday" presentation: "All Things Lavender" with Lynn Rossman of Lynn's Lavender. Community Room, Windsor Senior Center, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
May 31-June 3 - Windsor Community Art & Flower Show. The Windsor Garden Club runs the flower portion of this community show, which is a low-key, neighborly judged show that's a great way to get involved in making floral arrangements. The entries are on display in the Huerta Gymnasium. There is a free opening night reception May 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sunday June 17 - Father's Day at the Market. The Windsor Garden Club offers free materials to make a living succulent garden for dads. The club provides the materials free to children, but does accept donations from moms. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Windsor Farmers' Market on the Town Green.
Tuesday, June 19 - Third Tuesday presentation: "Caterpillars to Butterflies," by Master Gardener Suzanne Clark. The club will be giving away free milkweed starts to the public at the end of the presentation. Community Room, Windsor Senior Center, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
