Free Garden Design Workshop: Dreaming Your Water-Wise Oasis Wednesday, March 22
5:30-7:30 pm Windsor Regional Library
9291 Old Redwood Hwy, Windsor, CA
The Town of Windsor and the nonprofit Daily Acts organization are teaming up to bring offer this free garden & landscape design workshop on Wednesday, March 22, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Windsor Regional Library. Did you turn off your sprinklers in response to the drought, and find that you are not looking forward to watching your yard turn brown this summer? Have you been thinking about shrinking or getting rid of your lawn, but don't know what to put in its place?
The workshop will help you design a garden that will give you some green, nourish your senses, provide habitat, and enhance your home value, while saving money on your water bill. Landscape experts will be sharing tips about favorite, tried-and-true water-wise plants that work for Windsor and the North County, as well as garden elements that can create a personal paradise. The plant focus will be on gorgeous habitat-providing perennials, some of them edible.
Attendees will have the opportunity to work through their garden design ideas and questions with feedback from peers and professionals. Daily Acts gardeners will also discuss rebate programs, sheet mulching, creating permeable surfaces, and siting greywater/rainwater catchment systems around your homes where appropriate.
You’ll even have the opportunity to draft your own landscape plan to bring home! Participants will leave with the resources needed to confidently design their own water-wise garden, find and buy the best plants, and group them in gardens for easy irrigation system design and programming. The workshop is FREE, but space is limited and RSVPs are requested.
