Drive-Thru Compost Giveaway

Keiser Park
Windsor WeAct will be holding their fall free compost giveaway event in Keiser Park on the morning of Saturday, Oct 19, from 9 to noon. All Windsor residents can pick up up to a half cubic yard of fresh compost per household. The event is "self serve!" Please bring your own shovel, gloves and heavy duty bags or containers (or a pickup truck), if possible to cart away your compost. WeAct4Windsor is a local environmental nonprofit group.
Installing and Operating Your Own Drip Irrigation System

This informal presentation from Sonoma County Master Gardeners will go over how to set up your own garden drip irrigation system. Come learn all if you haven't set one up before, or come learn how to get your current system to exceed 90 percent efficiency at getting water to the root zones of your plants. This presentation will provide options and key considerations for drip irrigation to put the right amount of water in the right place when plants need it without excess runoff, over-spray, or waste. Learn how a garden water meter can be a useful tool to help understand your plants’ water requirements. This informal presentation will have plenty of time for questions and answers. After registering, you'll receive a confirmation email with info about the talk.

"Marigolds and Muertos"
The Marigold and its Role in Dia de Muertos Traditions

Join the Windsor Garden Club for a special Open Garden presentation on Marigolds - a flower that plays a big part in the traditions surrounding Dia de Los Muertos. The holiday has deep roots across Latin America, and is celebrated vigorously across Mexico and in Mexican-American communities all over the U.S. The holiday literally translates to "Day of the Dead" and is a joyful festival remembering friends and family now among "Los Muertos" - The Dead.
What do Marigolds (known as maravillas or caléndulas in Spanish) have to do with it? Come find out! The highlight of the morning is a presentation by Latino educators. The event is free; children are welcome accompanied by a parent. Also open for inspiration is the Community Pollinator Garden, another WGC partnership project with the Town. You'll find it just outside the garden fence at the north end of the Town Hall parking lot, next to the creek.The Town Green Community Garden is located at the corner of Windsor Road and Joe Rodota Drive in the Windsor Town Hall complex.

**You'll find plenty of marigolds for sale at the festival market at Windsor's Dia de Muertos celebration. The annual event is put on by the local nonprofit Somos Windsor.**

It's the Succulent Pumpkin Sale!
Windsor Farmers Market, Sunday, October 27

Remember when Windsor Garden Club used to sell succulent pumpkins at Windsor's Sunday Farmers Market as an annual fall fundraiser? So do we! With Covid in the rear-view mirror, we'll be back at the market's Pumpkin Festival Sunday, October 27, with a table full of medium size ready-to-buy pumpkins for you. (Medium is best carried with two hands, but won't leave you struggling). We will also be making "mini" succulent pumpkins at the table. Come make your own (with help) and buy it, or buy what we're making that day. Medium pumpkins run $25-$35, and minis (fit in the palm of your hand are $5 or $10. Come early for best selection.

WGC's Annual Holiday Wreath Making Wokshop

The Windsor Garden Club class is a Town of Windsor Favorite! Learn how to make a beautiful fresh holiday wreath for your door in a workshop led by designer Mary Robledo of Flourish by Design. Ticket price will be $35 for WGC members, $45 for non-members. Space is limited to 25 people. Tickets will be available on this WGC website Nov. 1, and also via the WGC enewsletter the first week of November.

Say hello to Spring and celebrate Earth Day at the Windsor Town Green Community Garden. Windsor Garden Club will have Master Gardeners on hand to answer your questions. Stroll the organic garden for inspiration, or wander outside the garden fence to the Community Pollinator Garden and stroll through the native and non-native water thrifty flowering plants that will attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to your yard. Learn about the Monarch Waystation program and what you can do in your own garden to help the beautiful, endangered King of Butterflies. The garden is located at the corner of Windsor River Road and Joe Rodota Drive in the Town Hall complex.
