Free Master Gardener Food Garden Specialist Presentation:

Starting from Seed!

Seed starting: It’s time to start seeds for your spring and summer vegetable garden! Join Sonoma County Master Gardeners and learn tips for starting seeds. The free workshop is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Windsor Town Green Community Garden, corner of Windsor River Road and Joe Rodota Way in the Town Hall complex. No RSVP required!

The workshop will include information on growing seeds indoors and various setups and methods for getting started.

UC Master Gardener Presentation:
How to Install & Maintain Your Own Drip Irrigation System

Does your current garden irrigation system exceed 90 percent efficiency at  getting water to the root zones of your plants? If not, you might want to check out the free March 21 presentation from the UC Master Gardeners. The free presentation is Saturday, March 21, from 11 AM to 12:30 PM in the Community Room at the Windsor Public Library.

You'll learn about options and key considerations for drip irrigation, and how to give plants the right amount of water when they need it - without excess runoff, overspray, or waste. Learn how a water meter can be a useful tool to help understand your plants’ water requirements. This informal presentation will have plenty of time for questions and answers.


Master Gardener Dennis Przybycien is the presenter. The event is free, but registration encouraged:

Town Green Community Garden Open House & Earth Day Celebration

Windsor Town Green Community Garden, Best Hope Pollinator Garden

Say hello to Spring and celebrate Earth Day at the Windsor Town Green Community Garden. Windsor Garden Club will have Master Gardeners on hand to answer your questions. Stroll the organic garden for inspiration, or wander outside the garden fence to the Community Pollinator Garden and stroll through the native water thrifty flowering plants that will attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to your yard. Learn about the Monarch Waystation program and what you can do in your own garden to help the beautiful, endangered King of Butterflies. We'll also be hosting a "Swap & Buy" Succulent party! Both gardens are located at the corner of Windsor River Road and Joe Rodota Drive in the Town Hall complex.

Windsor Garden Club will have a table at Farmers Market with Earth Day-related activities for children. One of them will be Nature Wands. More TBA. WGC activities are free, as are more activities presented by the Town of Windsor Parks and Recreation Departmernt on the Town Green.

Community Gardeners! Tend to your plots on Thursday April 23, or early Friday April 24, or Sunday April 26, but don't plan on easy access to downtown parking lots on the 26th. The annual Levi's Gran Fondo Bicycle Race will bring thousands of cyclists and their friends and admirers to town, to start and finish the race on the green. Walk or bike if you want to get to the garden that day! Find out more here:

Sonoma Marin Eco-Friendly Garden Tour

Windsor's Best Hope Pollinator Garden, 
Plus gardens throughout Marin and Sonoma Counties

The Sonoma-Marin Eco-Friendly Garden Tour is held on a weekend every May. The Self-guided "open gardens" tour features gardens in both counties that use beautiful, but water thrifty, landscaping. They include community gardens, wildlife habitats, pollinator gardens, and private homes. This year, WGC's Windsor's Best Hope Pollinator Garden in the Town Hall Complex is one of the highlights of the tour! Expert pollinator gardeners will be on hand during tour hours to answer questions. Specific garden locations are sent to those who register online; locations will be sent out the week before the event. The tour is sponsored by The Sonoma-Marin Watersaving Partnership.

Put on your sun hat and come down to the Town Green Community Garden for a look at how organic gardening and a drip irrigation system on a timer can create beautiful flowers and a bounty of fruit and vegetables that thrive in Windsor - even in the summer heat. Windsor Garden Club will have Master Gardeners on hand to answer your questions. We may have mini-pumpkins ready for some free succulent pumpkin building. We love dogs, but please leave them home - they aren't allowed inside the garden. We'd love to see YOU.

It's the Succulent Pumpkin Sale!

Remember when Windsor Garden Club used to sell succulent pumpkins at Windsor's Sunday Farmers Market as an annual fall fundraiser? So do we! With Covid in the rear-view mirror, we'll be back at the market's Pumpkin Festival Sunday, October 27, with a table full of medium size ready-to-buy pumpkins for you. (Medium is best carried with two hands, but won't leave you struggling). We will also be making "mini" succulent pumpkins at the table. Come make your own (with help) and buy it, or buy what we're making that day. Medium pumpkins run $25-$35, and minis (fit in the palm of your hand are $5 or $10. Come early for best selection.
